US elections 2008: Does Sarah Palins unwed teen daughters pregnancy help or harm her voter appeal?
If the pregnancy of the unwed teen daughter of Sarah Palin were to affect the Republican Ticket, the reason would be that it was not revealed before the nomination process. It would also put into doubt the vetting process and the way the Republicans and Democrats nominate their Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates. Personally, I could care less because my party [the Libertarian Party] nominated Bob Barr as our Presidential Candidate by direct vote in the Libertarian Party Convention. Wayne Allyn Root was nominated as the Vice Presidential Candidate for the Libertarian Party by Direct Vote in the Libertarian Party Convention in Denver, Colorado.
What will hurt Sarah Palin was her support of the Alaskan Independence Party. In March of 2008, Sarah Palin sent a videotaped message to the Alaskan Independence Party Convention expressing her support for the Independence of Alaska. The video can be seen in You Tube under the title of Sarah Palin and Alaska Independence Party. This event occurred during the administration of Sarah Palin as Governor of Alaska and we do not know if she is part of the corrupt elite which governs Washington or is an advocate for Independence for Alaska. What I think is that the fact that she changes her position like a chameleon changes colours will make people think twice if Mc Cain is elected President.
Another factor that will hurt Sarah Palin and the Republican Ticket is the scandal called Trooper Gate. In this scandal, Governor Sarah Palin was accused of using her influence to get State Trooper Mike Wooten fired. The ramifications are still being felt around Alaska. Sean Cockerham of the Anchorage Daily News has enough information as well as Alaskan Radio and Television.
Daniel Scheschkewitz of Deutsche Welle News Service commented about the lack of economic experience of Sarah Palin. CNBC reported that Alaska [for the second time in the row in 2008] is in last place as a state that is friendly towards business. In an yearly evaluation, Alaska was in last place in economics and business friendly states in the number fifty. The evaluation takes into account the cost of living allowance as well as other factors. The economy in Alaska could be a bust for Mc Cain and Palin.
The teen pregnancy and the fact that it was hidden was just the tip of the iceberg of economics, dubious loyalties, and Trooper Gate. I myself feel tranquil because my Presidential Candidate Bob Barr represents transparency in the economy and life.
